Sister Macey Gates // Week Thirty-Eight // "Soy un caso jaja‏"

This week started out not the best, but thats okay cause it ended good:) Its been hard guys, missions are hard. Like you pray for heavenly father to help you with something, like patience, and oh he will test. you. I stopped praying for all those things haha Things are getting better. This week was definitely alot better than last week.  Its HOT here. Our homeshare is 90 degrees, we cant even sleep cause its so hot. Last night me and bowen popped popcorn and watched mr. Kroogers Christmas hahaha We didnt fall asleep until 1. But our homeshare is going out of town for 2 weeks!!!!!!! PARTAYYY!;) haha jk we are really obedient. So we taught Francis and Beto the law of chastity and told them they need to live apart or get married... talk about the room quiet. They cant get married cause Beto still has to get a divorce and he doesnt want to pay child support. So please pray for them!! Oh Leonarda, she doesnt remember anything we teach haha its so sad cause all she wants to do in learn how to read and she thinks God isnt going to accept her cause she doesnt know how to read. Do any of you know how to teach a 92 yr old how to read?? We have been, for service, teaching the family english, and they help us out with our spanish. Its awesome. I absolutely love that family. Leonarda made it to church yesterday!! She probably couldnt hear anything but i know she felt something special:) The funniest thing yesterday was trying to get her back in the truck to go home. Three people tried lifting her up and she would just grip the door so it was impossible to get her in. So i had to like hold her hands so they could just like slide her in. She was laughing, the family was laughing, and we were laughing. It was the highlight of my day. Yesterday me and Bowen got really sick. But we are doing much better. Yesterday in Relief Society we had a lesson on the Priesthood. There is so much power in the priesthool.  They spirit was so strong the whole time in that lesson. I am so grateful for those worthy priesthood holders.  Yesterday we got to help out with a baptism haha i feel like we always help with baptisms not actually have them, but you know im totally okay with it. This baptism was crazy. The mom and her two girls were so ready to be baptized and then the dad who is in the navy got mad, and satan just has to ruin everything. But me and Bowen went in to the dressing room to talk to the girls and they agreed to be baptized. They said they felt so good after. It was so stressful and it wasnt even my baptism haha but God does work miracles. I love this quote but its in spanish and i dont feel like translating so use google translater: " Recordemos que todas las personas tienes sus temores, pero  las que enfrentan con dignidad lo que temen, son las valientes. So basically Everyone has their fears, but those who face them with courage are the valient ones. I absolutely love that. I know we all can have the faith to do things that scare us, like talk to people about the gospel, but you will get so much help from out Heavenly father if you do. Another: You are not too young to learn, or to old to change. Remember that okay?? And Last of all: It doesnt ever get easier, it only gets better. That explains a misison perfectly. I give props to those who finish their missions. Its the most amazing hardest wonderful experience. You all are always in my prayers. LOVE YOU!! Think about me all the time at lake powell okay?;)

Sister Macey Gates // Week Thirty-Seven // "Love Guera vende quesos:)‏"

Todos somos gueras/gueros vende quesos hahah So this week was hard. But guess what. God loves us so much. So 4th of July, We got doors slammed in our faces and then we went home early cause Bowen didn't feel good. THEN we went to dinner and guess what we had.... Ribs, carne asada, and taquitos....Oh my was i in Heaven Yes I Was. It was SO good. Then we played 5 crowns with our home share for the rest of the night. I totally lost every game except one, i got second;) haha we laughed so hard because i just have the worst luck ever. It was such a good week at our home share, killed cockroaches, visited a lot with our home share and last night we played 5 crowns again, It was SO fun. I totally thought i was gonna redeem myself again but i totally lost again hahha This week Hermana Bowen just shut down. Finally yesterday she was just like Geets i need help. It was hard to be pumped for her all the time, not even knowing the area, or who to plan for but we made it through. We both got priesthood blessings this week and they were absolutely amazing. I don't know why but our district leader always gives them in spanish and i love it. I absolutely love reading the BOM in spanish. Its so beautiful, like the wording is so different. I also love companion study. I learn so much every single day. Yesterday we were so blessed. This lady came up to us and was like "Hermanas.. I did my part." And were just like what do you mean you did your part? And she said " I asked my grandma if she wanted to be baptized and she said yes!" So we go over and visit this grandma, and she is 93 years old so we just talk to her a little bit and her grand daughter was talking so sweet with her and said " Grandma, i want you to be baptized cause i want to be with you forever." That touched my heart. We slowly taught her the first lesson and she like didn't even comprehend anything but all she knows is that if she is baptized her family can be together forever in heaven. She was crying, is so sick of the pain she is having but knows she is alive right now for some reason.  So were hoping she doesn't die before she gets baptized on the 27th. I love the people here with all my heart. I love this gospel. We met our new mission president this week and it was so weird, it just didn't seem normal haha but he is amazing and i loved what the topic was on... Who else? Every time we share the gospel, we need to ask the people who else do you know could benefit from our message? I loved that so much. I challenge all of you to pray for missionary experiences. I love you all.  So much. No chairs left behind!!

Sister Macey Gates // Week Thirty-Six

 I have the BEST new companion in the world. Hermana Bowen is from Centerville Utah. I named her tootsie. Need i say more. We are so funny hahaha we are having the time of our lives. This area is SO HARD. I thought Corona was hard. I have never knocked on so many doors in my life, with no one home, or get denied so much. We have been learning to really follow the spirit to be guided to the elect people.  Its so pretty here, in a different way. Its so pretty driving past the lake everyday. Our homes hare, lets just say i miss the Goudy's house SO much. Like we pray every single day to not see a cockroach. I HATE THEM. Like i pray every single time i go into the bathroom cause they are just crawling all over the sink and shower. But the good news, we get to move out at the end of this transfer cause she son i coming home from his mission. Only 6 more weeks with the roaches. Also our home share just yells at her daughter so much to clean things up, to be on time, dududududududa and i'm just sitting here like where in the world is the spirit. I hate contention so much.  She shows no love whatsoever. Im just like can you be positive or happy for once? She can kindly tell her to do things and sit her down nicely to talk with her about everything. Its just so frustrating hahha sorry. Any who. So the first day me and Bowen took a break and got Jack in the Box 50cent tacos and went and sat  by the lake in our car. Then this car drown down and got stuck in the sand. And i said Bowen I have the BEST idea. One time me and my bro got stuck in the know and Mother Anne drove up in 1bzymom and got her floor mats(best idea ever btw) And got the traction to pull the razor out. So we just walked down to the car and it ended up being a less active and her friend. So instead of using the floor mats, we just pushed the car out in our cool skirts, its was so funny tho cause the car is just flinging sad all up in our faces but its fine. They were so grateful, and we invited the lady back to church again. We were blessed for taking a quick break;) I really do love this place. Its hard, we are still finding but guess what, we have 2 people on date. We are going to change this area. Im stoked, i'm pumped!!! Church was weird yesterday, its weird being in a different ward. I had to bear my testimony and its getting easier for me to speak in front of people so that made me happy! Our two gators on date are Isela, and Francis. We taught francis the other day, and she knows its true she just need to act. Isela is a former, i got to  look throughout the area book and pic some names out and she was one of them. We went and visited her and she now has such a desire to change her life. I love this work guys. Its so hard, sometimes i just wanna cry but its so amazing. I had the opportunity to go back to Corona yesterday to see Naomi, the little girl from the Ramirez family get baptized. When i showed up, no one was there, im just like great haha so i just set up all the chairs and got everything going and luckily they came. Sister Goudy even came to say hi for a min. It was the BEST suprise in the world. I love her so much. I got to see Santoyo haha she freaked out. She calls me like every day, she is having her work cut out for her but is going so strong. Im so proud of her. I got to see Howell, Beck, Luccion, Oswald, and so many ward members that i love and miss!!! We were able to sing a musical number for the baptism, all us missionaries who have taught this family, so fun!! I love this work. So much. Fun story, i was oyming and this guy was like hitting on me and i was just like no way, i have never had anyone offer me beer before so i was like oh yeah, es muy malo para tomar cerveza, and its was so fun to be like that is so bad. Just in case you all were wondering. Im having fun. Lots. Always remember to stand up for what you believe in even when people laugh and mock you. LOVE YOU ALL.  I CANT WAIT TO BE AN AUNT IN A COUPLE HOURS!!!!!!
